...there some days when I would just like to rip off my clothes, rise from the chair screaming til my throat burns, and rip this damn machine out of its sockets and fling it through the artfully ergonomically designed window here in the library "Technology Center". Not owning a computer, I am forced to use ...for 90 minutes only...the public ones down here at the old Biblioteque. Some days its really OK and I can get a lot done. But other days, like today Apres Black Friday I could just scream!!!
...I did not "join up" into the Brotherhood of Keyboard Clickers until very late in the game.( 2007 actually.) And then only because I realized that it wasn't going away and that, at some future date, knowing how to Surf the Net would become a tool of accepted necessity. And so I joined up. ( Look for such Aliases as Brewster Moose, Derrick Severn, and Vicktor Karpenko for some of my stuff. Its spread all over this "place" !?!)
...but then there other days, like today, when all the Greater Gods of Webdom, the Princes of the NET, and all the disquieted Angels of our misfortunes conspire against me. I try to look up my ex-wife's address to give her some shit about the on-going child support issues between us....almost 30 years, the accounting is all messed up, and I'll never drive again until it is settled. My daughter is 33 and married but I can't catch a break...and all I get is a place to send money before i get an address. Same trying to find an old friend. And then the machine decided to take its own sweet time pretending that it is "confused" by my requests and takes 6 minutes to open up my Emails. Bastard ICs.
...I hate this thing; I wish I could just use my old IBM Selectric but typewriters are about as available as 8 track tape players and Video Disks. I hate them because I helped to construct their internal processing architecture and trans mechanical vocabulary back in my good old days in Silicon Valley. I don't trust what the computer is capable of because I never trusted the people I worked with. Even the slightest human defect can manifest itself in the software and multiply its effect faster than liver cancer can metastasize! Well shit; outta time again. Time to go drink a gallon of wine. Hey Al Gore? Fuck you even if you DID invent this..
